Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision of the department supervisor, and with input from the medical director, the senior ultrasound technician will produce diagnostic images of human anatomy using various diagnostic ultrasound scanning equipment following prescribed protocols and procedures.
Competently perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures portably, intra-operatively and in the department.
Incumbents may perform and in-service new technician, students and staff on a continuing and assigned basis.
Assist in training and maintaining quality control standards.
Ability to function as technician on scheduled workdays as part of rotation.
Monitor supply usage and maintain required records.
Operate the Hospital Information systems.
Complete required billing forms completely and accurately.
Assist with patient medical records maintenance.
Maintain clean, safe, orderly work and patient care area.
Assist department manager with data collection as needed.
Comply with attendance and tardiness guidelines.
Comply with outlined on-call schedule as posted.
Qualifications
Requirements, Skills and Abilities:
ARDMS -Required
2 Years recent Acute Care experience-Required
Pediatric experience -preferred
BLS-Required
Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology and pathology and ability to apply theory to practice in the clinical evaluation of target anatomy.
Ability to provide services for all age groups from neonates to geriatric persons.
Skill and manual dexterity to manipulate transducer, buttons and knobs on the ultrasound equipment to obtain optimal studies.
Knowledge and ability to use PC and word processing software to generate written reports.
Ability to move 500lb+ ultrasound machine around the medical center.
Registered or registry eligible (must to obtained within one year of hire date).
On call and report to duty within 45-60 minutes of request.
