Diesel Mechanic

** We are offering a $2,000 Sign On Bonus for this position. This will be disbursed throughout the course of a year (4 equal payments of $500 paid after 30 days, 90 days, 6 months and 1 year of employment). Terms and Conditions apply. Summary As a valued member of our team, the Diesel Technician III will diagnose, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment including, but not limited to the following: engines (gas and diesel), electrical/brake/cooling systems, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials/power dividers, PTO systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems (including cold and hot units), fan clutches, engine electronics (gas/diesel), power steering systems, steering gear box (manual and power), hydraulics and welding.   • Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment.
  • Diagnose, rebuild and repair fleet equipment (tractors, trailers, mixer units).
  • Prepare work orders both manually and on a computer
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety
  • Work in a safe manner, per company, local, state and federal policies and regulations
  • Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units
  • Perform minor welding.
  • Raise trucks, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
  • Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
  • Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials, to include replacing or rebuilding complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system, after treatment, mixers, etc.
  • Assist in training other employees, act as a mentor.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to close geographical locations.
