Data Center Technician

TITLE: Data Center TechnicianLocation: New York, NYCompensation Range : $55-65/hrResponsibilities: Support users and escalate problems to ensure customer service Set up, fix, maintain and patch technology in the Data Center Adhere to and update documentation and user guides Troubleshoot for network, hardware and software problems Maintain hardware and software inventory and maintenance logs Identify, develop and apply “Best in Class” approaches/practices to data center functions, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction – including but not limited to racking, stacking, decomms, cabling & troubleshooting of Data Center infrastructure Assist with onsite server, storage, & network Level 1 troubleshooting & project work Work with vendors and application owners to ensure that Data Center policies and procedures are followed Ensure that vendors and visitors are properly registered in the log to ensure security compliance Escort/supervise vendors and visitors throughout their visit to the Data Center During outages or incidents, assist in problem management & recommend/implement effective solutions Monitor IT Data Center cooling & power utilization. Report and escalate any issues as needed to ensure problems are resolved in a timely manner Monitor & review reporting on core facility equipment; interface with facilitypersonnel to ensure availability & reliability of mechanical/electrical/structural infrastructure Ensure approved change management processes are strictly followed Ensure data centers operate in compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Min 5 years of overall IT industry experience which includes Network, Server & Storage hardware support Proven IT data center experience including direct on-call experience Proven experience in vendor support Proven knowledge in Windows/UNIX/LINUX operational support Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong customer communication skills (interpersonal/oral/written) with an ability to read and communicate complex technical design concepts
