Overview: DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Clerical and technical work involving varied and complex processing of criminal records within multiple criminal justice applications.
Requires some independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of specialized work methods and procedures and their application in the Records Bureau of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO).
It is essential that personnel become proficient and remain able to perform all aspects of the Records Bureau services.
An employee assigned to this classification reports to the Records Shift Supervisor, with detailed instructions given in cases involving new or unusually difficult problems.
Assignments may be made through the operation of established unit procedures.
Performance is evaluated through observation, results obtained, appropriate employee performance appraisals, and oral/written reports.
Responsibilities: EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Train in, and perform, general and specialized clerical functions associated with a law enforcement agencyAccurately code, validate, and/or classify agency reports, documents, and materials based on agency, state, and federal policies and proceduresUtilize information from various sources to update and maintain records and data housed by the agencyUnderstand and comply with state law and agency policy relating to both the confidentiality of and appropriate dissemination of criminal justice records and informationUtilize appropriate law enforcement databases and communications systems to enter, modify, retrieve, confirm, and remove records as well as perform criminal records checks and interact with other criminal justice agencies in a timely and accurate manner while following a strict set of standardsUnderstand and complete basic requests for service such as completing local background checks and/or fingerprinting citizens and employee applicantsWork well in a customer service oriented environment to appropriately take, process, and direct requests for service or information occurring in person, over the phone, or via email by maintaining a good understanding of general functions performed by the agency and individual agency componentsPerform basic duties as a notary publicMaintain a good work ethic, recognizing the importance of attendance and punctuality This job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties and responsibilities of the position.
