SUMMARY
Purchases media space and time for advertisements in various Hispanic media.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Meets with media representatives and accesses media database to research available options for media placement in Hispanic media.
Negotiates best price for media space or time, as specified in approved media plan, to optimize budget.
Buys negotiated media space, commercial time or site placement.
Monitors media agreements and contracts with outside media vendors.
Supervises media schedules and adjusts broadcasting and online schedules due to program or site cancellations.
Monitors media for placement and time discrepancies and negotiates credit or billing adjustments when necessary.
Tracks expenditures to ensure compliance with budget.
Researches and maintains record of trends, innovations and changes that affect media buying.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university required.
5 + years of related experience in media buying required.
Very good mathematical ability required.
Work experience in spot television, spot radio, spot cable, digital video and audio streaming, print and outdoor advertising preferred.
Attention to detail required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Must have knowledge of Hispanic market and culture.
COMMUNICATION ABILITY
Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills, operational data, instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of media partners and employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers.
Ability to perform these operations using US currency and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Personal Computer proficiency; MS Office preferred.
This position will also regularly use media buying and media research specific software such as Strata/SBMS, Basis, Comscore, PrimeLingo, Kantar, IMS and others.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise the work of Assistant Media personnel.
