Manufacturing EngineerJob Code: AS20210607-64178Job Location: Simi Valley, CAJob Description: The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical support for all areas of the business unit, including Planning, Purchasing, Assembly, Test, and Customer Service.
The Manufacturing Engineer specifies equipment, methods, and operational sequence to ensure products comply with all technical and customer requirements and are produced in the most efficient manner possible.Essential Functions:This position reports to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.Maintains a continuing liaison relationship with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Control, and Quality Control to ensure open communication between all parties and ensures manufacturing and test tasks are accomplished with effective utilization of available manufacturing resources.Creates, develops, implements, optimizes, and maintains routings for products being completed by manufacturing.Creates as necessary tooling/fixturing and processes for all assemblies.Establishes and maintains labor cost standards for all assemblies.Maintains complete, accurate, and timely manufacturing documentation, including assembly procedures, testing methods, packaging and labeling instructions, BOM, and other as required.Oversees the detail manufacturing planning for each part and assembly.
Specifies BOM structure, methods, sequence of operations, shop routing, time standards, and tooling as required.Participates in Material Review Board activities to review and disposition non-conforming materials and assemblies.Participates in company safety committee and environmental programs as required.Provides sustaining engineering support to production.Participates in implementation of corrective actions to improve production and/or quality.Conducts economic analysis on new methods and equipment.Creates work instructions, and guides and trains production personnel in the manufacture of new and legacy products.Provides facility layout and design recommendations for new methods and process flow improvements.Participates in failure analysis teams and contributes to resulting solutions, root cause, and corrective actions.Defines, proposes, and implements capital equipment for process improvement.Initiates, evaluates, and approves engineering drawings and/or change requests.Participates in core process teams to advance learning with the goal of becoming a subject matter expert in a specific manufacturing discipline.Participates in and guides design for manufacturability of new products during transition from design to production.Creates and presents product specific process and flow presentations to customers.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and three (3) years related experience or seven (7) years of applicable on-the-job experience.Must have thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, including fabrication methods required to produce the component parts used in all assemblies.
These will include steel and aluminum weldments and machine parts.
Also, good working knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies, including wire routing techniques and practices and Engineering drawings with the ability work with vendors and solve manufacturing problems.Must be familiar with Cad software and use of Excel, MS project, Word, and Window’s based programs.
