Job Description
About the Role:
- Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily pre-trip/basic and safety inspections on equipment, report maintenance issues for repair.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, logs, and submit daily vehicle inspection records.
- Communicate with Operations, Warehouse, and other drivers/colleagues to solve problems.
- Monitor scheduled activities by shift with respect to orders, door assignments, dispatch of trucks, and contract carriers supporting production and various other departments on a daily basis.
- Assist transportation function by directing carrier drivers on empty trailer dropping and load pick-up processes.
- Operate tractor-trailer combination
- Hook/unhook trailers from a tractor
- Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truck
- Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including but not limited to: pallets, straps and rope
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports
- Completes documentation and shipping of Hazardous Materials in accordance to CFR 49, Section 100-180 (DOT, IATA, Customs, etc.).
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required, including but not limited to: delays, arrivals and equipment problems
- Demonstrate internal and external customer service
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Complete bill of lading, packing list, seal assignment, and bar code assignments for each order.
- Assists material handlers and supervisors in locating discrepancies and product misplacement.
- Complies with SOPs, GMPs, safety rules and regulations, and departmental procedures Receives and fills orders and performs order status inquiry for all completed orders.Adjusts orders as necessary when damages or shortages occur.
- Fills and prepares inventory for transportation through material handlers and monitors progress throughout shift to assure efficient completion of duties.
- Performs physical counts, cycle counts, and periodic inventory verification.
- May be required to perform job duties of a warehouse coordinator when operationally necessary
- Perform other duties as required.
- This is a safety sensitive position. Incumbent must have safe and effective driving skills, forklift operations skills, and other material handling equipment operation skills. Must be able to safely unload and load items using a pallet jack and hand truck.
- Must be able to perform daily pre-trip/basic maintenance tasks including checking fluids, replacing fluids, operating a fuel pump, and basic preventative maintenance tasks with basic tools common to commercial vehicle operation.
- Proficient in warehouse management systems and pc environments.
- Inventory and stock management
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
- Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
- Must be able to work independently without or without direct supervision
- Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements
How you will contribute:
- 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED. 4+ years of related work experience or AA degree or higher and 2+ years of related work experience.
- Must have minimum of 1 year of driving experience within the last three years and have no active suspensions.
- Must have valid Class A and Class C Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
- Successful completion of Department of Transportation (DOT) compliant pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing post hire as required.
- DOT medical exam certificate.
- Successful completion of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) background check within 30 days of employment.

Previous warehouse and/or technical office experience.
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement. If you do not have at time of hire, you must obtain it within 90 days of employment.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to warehousing and manufacturing areas at +5°C including storage freezer at –20°C and exposure to human blood plasma.
- In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work, and walking around the facility.
- Will work in a cold, wet environment
- Must be able to work overtime, on weekends and holidays, when needed.
- Some cool/hot storage conditions.
- Local driving required to perform work. Will be home daily. No additional travel is required.
