The Boeing Company is seeking a motivated and hardworking Systems Engineer – Compliance & Safety to join our Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) team in El Segundo, CA.

The Systems Engineer will have the primary responsibility of performing the duties of an Electrical Safety Assessor (ESA) & Safety Champion within the Space Systems Verification & Test Capability. As an Electrical Safety Assessor (ESA) you will be trained to become a Boeing Designated Expert (BDE), you will participate in and conduct evaluations on applicable electrical lab test equipment and work with other Site/Business leaders to provide status on our Safety stature and initiatives. Duties include performing the assessment, documenting results, driving open actions to closure, and providing updates to senior management & executives.  Other responsibilities will be to advise, guide and peer review other ESA BDEs on their evaluations and associated reports, support electrical equipment inspections and audits.

BDE’s are also encouraged to participate in the ESA BDE community to learn, guide and help gain skills as an ESA BDE. Wherever practical, BDE Boeing Electrical Equipment Safety Assessor shall not have been associated with design of the equipment or have custodial responsibility for the equipment being evaluated; exceptions will be made to accommodate business models (e.g. classified environment), geographic locations, and capacity requirements.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Mid-Level, Lead, and Senior Level Systems Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform the duties and meet requirements of an Electrical Safety Assessor

  • Become a Qualified Person (QP) to perform evaluations and inspections per BPI-708

  • Provide QP evaluations and inspections on Special Test Equipment (STE) to ensure compliance with electrical standards

  • Be an active participant in the evaluation and approval of STE designs and support equipment, ensuring safety compliance and considerations

  • Provide BVE Certification on specified equipment

  • Supports the development, execution and verification of system test on spacecraft subsystems

  • Analyzes, processes, and formats data to customer requirements

  • Prepares and publishes reports to document results and satisfy requirements

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience complying with industry standards, including electrical and safety codes

  • 3+ years of experience creating and documenting test plans/procedures, executing tests, analyzing results, and/or creating test reports

  • Experience with design, integration, and test of electrical systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range mid-Level: $104,550 – $141,450

Summary pay range lead level: $128,350 – $173,650

Summary pay range senior level: $157,250 – $212,750

To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
