Manager, Systems Engineering

Our Manager, Systems Engineering position is a key technical management role responsible for overseeing the Systems team as they move new technologies and features from conceptual stages to implementation. This group is responsible for designing, building, implementing, and supporting the systems infrastructure used to advance CENIC’s organizational goals and objectives. Keeping a statewide research and education network running takes a lot of work behind the scenes. Behind every great network is a team that maintains the hardware, software, and service infrastructure to keep it running. Our Systems team is the heart of that operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a strong team of engaged engineers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Manage systems engineering resources across various projects
  • Work to integrate a DevOps environment within the organization
  • Work with project management to meet project technical and schedule goals
  • Lead the daily operations of planning, engineering, and supporting our organization’s systems infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience making architectural and design-related decisions
  • A strong track record as both an individual contributor and a manager or technical lead
  • Experience in DevOps environments

Location: CENIC has two California offices, the home office in La Mirada and a smaller office in Berkeley. This position is based in our La Mirada office. Please note due to COVID-19 this position is temporarily remote and not expected to be back in the office until conditions in the state of California improve.
