This position is part of the Automation Engineering Team and will be located in Sunnyvale CA (Relocation assistance maybe provided) . The Senior Electrical Safety Engineer, Automation is responsible for all manufacturing equipment for successful passing third party inspections for Field Label Evaluation or CE Inspections as part of the system qualification. Perform electrical design, testing, commissioning of controls systems, control panels and High-volume Automation Equipment. Our department vision is to be the Manufacturing Operations Center of Excellence for Business Solutions, Automation Controls and Compliance. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Standardize system level, power distribution, controls, fieldbus distribution and equipment safety, applied to all in-house new equipment. Specify all machine electrical/safety scope of work for internal and contracted vendor resources. Guide and enforce National and International (NFPA 70, NFPA 79 / CE Conformity) electrical and machine safety standards to all new equipment designed for Cepheid. Support and troubleshoot existing systems in production. Provide guidance to Electromechanically Technicians. The essential requirements of the job include: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 years of related work experience OR relevant electrical design experience. Must have relevant knowledge and experience incorporating the NFPA 79 requirements for industrial machine design. Must have design experience in control panel, motion systems, heater control and sound grounding/shielding practices. Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting in a high-volume automated manufacturing environment. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: CE Certification / Field Label Evaluation (FLE) / SEMI S2 certification experience. Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical or Solid Works Electrical. FDA Regulated Industrial Automation Industry experience. L1-WT1 The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is ( $120k-$150k). This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
