Lead DevOps Engineer

Bridg is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer who will jump right into hands-on DevOps engineering and collaborate with our development and operations teams to lead the creation of DevOps solutions that scale with our rapid growth.

Our platform is a combination of a large scale near-real time data pipeline (10s of billions of data points of sale transaction data from major retailers).  Our current tech stack includes Flink, Kafka, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Presto, AWS Athena, Glue, Redshift, EMR, DynamoDB, and more.

Responsilities

  • Work alongside engineering teams to design and implement AWS solutions and infrastructure for deployment, monitoring, alerting, data storage, and security
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies based on current and future feature requirements, performance, cost effectiveness, and reliability
  • Review existing infrastructure with a fresh perspective to suggest improvements and optimizations
  • Contribute to best practices; create diagrams and documentation where appropriate and participate in stand ups with the engineering team
  • Collaborate directly with the engineering team to define strategy and technical infrastructure roadmap, and drive the rapid implementation of appropriate technologies.  Define and report on performance KPI
  • Maintain Information Security compliance requirements
  • Manage the set up of network infrastructure, access control, and security groups

Desired Skills and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive AWS cloud experience (EC2, ELB,  ECS, VPC, IAM, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • AWS Certification preferred but not essential: SysOps and/or Solutions Architect ideal
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing AWS-based infrastructure
  • Experience with DevOps and automation: Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Configuration Management, CloudFormation, Salt, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, etc.
  • Experience with Docker tooling and ecosystem
  • Track record of AWS and Linux experience
  • Expertise with Amazon RDS and one or more of Elastic MapReduce (EMR), DynamoDB, Redshift
  • Experience with supporting Kafka and Cassandra clusters
  • Expertise with application performance monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, NewRelic, and open source alternatives
  • Self starter with excellent communication skills, written and spoken

Security, Availability and Confidentiality Requirements

  • You are responsible for protecting the credentials provided to you to access S3’s (and customer, where applicable) networks, systems and data
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all S3’s customer data to which you are granted access.

    Any suspected compromises of S3’s proprietary data or customer data must be reported to Management immediately.

  • You will adhere to the S3 Information Security Policy and Procedures and supporting standard operating procedures to protect Company systems and data.
  • Respond to and resolve customer help desk requests [varies based on role]
  • You will alert management immediately with any expected system or data compromises and/or system failure impacting the security, confidentiality, availability and integrity of S3 and customer data.
  • You will be required to attend an annual Information Security Awareness Training
