Electrical Systems Engineer, Passive Safety

Full Time

Focus on passive safety system solution for battery electric vehicle. Work on electrical system requirements,
specifications, design, implementation, testing, and calibration etc. Ensure vehicle and system function and
performance requirements are satisfied.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support integration of passive safety solution to overall vehicle E/E architecture; Fulfill the electrical system design,
development, and integration for passive safety domain.

  • Develop electrical system requirements for passive safety solution. Determine technical specifications for system and

major components including controller, crash sensors, occupant detection and classification system, driver seat position
sensor, seat belt buckle sensors, airbags, and seat belt pretensioners, etc. Determine requirements in power,
communication, diagnostics, electromagnetic compatibility, packaging, and environment etc.

  • Support CAD engineer and wiring systems engineer in packaging and wire routing design etc. Support sourcing of

components.

  • Perform system design and integration with the support from multiple suppliers and engineering service partners. Design

system architecture, control function, power network, and communication network etc.

  • Develop test plans for verification and validation of system functions, diagnostics, and communication etc. Perform

testing, calibration, and investigate malfunctions. Ensure system function and vehicle level performance.

  • Summarize the technical and development process status on a regular basis and report to management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in passive safety system design, development, and testing.
  • Strong grasp of electrical and control system fundamentals. Knowledge of vehicle electrical system development cycle.
  • Experience with vehicle communication networks including LIN, CAN, PSI5, etc. Working knowledge of diagnostics
and communication tools, and major CAD software.

  • Working knowledge of DFMEA, functional safety analysis, ISO 26262 etc.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with suppliers and engineering service companies for system design and implementation.
  • Good verbal and written language skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively in a cross functional team

environment.
