Job Description

You will be responsible for leading the management of the infrastructure for building consistent development, test, and build environments. You will oversee DevOps engineers as they set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for current and future projects; with artifacts and metrics passing back into the feedback loop for monitoring and alerting.

You will oversee a group of a highly talented team of software developers, to ensure builds are stable and of the highest quality possible. The role requires strong communication skills, and expert knowledge of the game development environment.

You will establish and manage technical strategies that ensure scalability and security as the company continues to grow. You will have a proven background in maturing and running IT systems and security policies in support of company growth. You will own and implement all general IT and company security policies and procedures working alongside various department leads. Our ideal candidate will be able to assist in creating the company’s IT strategy, own and drive initiatives, and support staff on solving technical issues quickly and efficiently. You should feel comfortable expanding and leading the IT department as Magnopus grows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of DevOps engineers responsible for building robust, operationally sound, and highly scalable VR/AR experiences, internal tools, and backend services across multiple environments
  • Oversee the building and maintaining of infrastructure for continuous integration, automated testing, deployment, and monitoring
  • Responsible for planning, development, and implementation of all technologies related to Cloud hosting, and best practices thereof
  • Provide strategic and architectural guidance, influence the development teams, and drive the realization of a technology vision
  • Form effective partnerships with other teams (developers, product owners and site reliability engineers) across various projects
  • Work closely with internal Cloud Architecture team in engineering the next iteration of DevOps tools in automation, cloud management, CI/CD and security
  • Influence and educate development and product teams to adjust working practices in alignment with modern day software development and delivery approaches (CI, CD, AWS)
  • Architect and implement metrics required to bring transparency to the migration of code from development, testing, staging, through production
  • Manage the production release process and implementation plan that ensures the reliability and availability of the platform
  • Identify, analyze, coordinate, and resolve environment and infrastructure needs to ensure a smooth running application
  • Design, create, and maintain comprehensive documentation of best practices for all implemented system configurations
  • Deliver solutions to ensure productivity across all of Magnopus’ offices and remote employees
  • Collaborate with all internal department heads to develop a clear understanding of current IT needs and address changing business priorities with agility

Requirements

Baseline

  • 7 years of experience in managing DevOps teams responsible for configuration management and engineering, infrastructure development, and operation ideally supporting an Agile development process
  • Extensive experience with DevOps practices and toolchains with infrastructure as code
  • Extensive experience with automation/configuration management
  • Extensive experience managing software release and deployment
  • Able to read and write scripts in PowerShell, Python, Gradle or equivalent
  • Highly Proficient in supporting application development on multiple platforms (Mobile, Windows, Mac, and Linux)

Skills

  • Experience with automated build systems (e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity, or equivalent)
  • Experience with Perforce and Git
  • Experience with bug-tracking software (e.g. Jira, YouTrack, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Agile software development process (particularly Scrum)
  • Passion for games and a desire to remain up to date with the latest technologies
  • Excellent communication skills

Bonus Points

  • Programming experience with C# in Unity and/or C++ in Unreal
  • Past experience working with VR/AR content and understanding what makes these mysterious worlds so enticing
  • Honest and heartfelt desire to make the world a genuinely better place
