POSITION OVERVIEW
MCR Federal, LLC provides the Space and Missile Systems Center’s Space Command and Control Division with software design, development, and deployment expertise to revolutionize the way the United States Space Force builds, deploys, and operates software. MCR Federal, LLC is looking for a brilliant DevOps Engineer interested in joining a cross-functional product team within the Space C2’s organic software development factory.

As a DevOps Engineer with MCR you will pair all day, every day, because we know it delivers remarkable results. You will deploy and run deployments of leading commercial Kubernetes distributions and provide expertise for operational management of the platform on monitoring, management, disaster recovery, security compliance/auditing, networking, storage, service brokers, and build packs.
You will be responsible to:
* Develop and deliver configuration and deployment automation required for continuously improving the functionality, availability, and manageability of platform and associated services;
* Set up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, and troubleshooting;
* Use scripting tools to develop automated “self-service” capabilities in the Platform as a Service for the software development teams;
* Work closely with software developers to troubleshoot issues;
* Deploy and operationalize platforms built on Kubernetes by designing for storage integration, container networking, service routing, observability, and platform security;
* Provide deployment, operational assistance, and guidance monitoring management, disaster recovery, security compliance/auditing, networking, storage, service brokers, and build packs;
* Drive platform adoption by working with application teams to embrace modern practices around developer workflow, application enhancements, build and packaging, application lifecycle, and observability;
* Provide experienced DevSecOps guidance and support for platform accreditation and authorization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* 6 years of relevant experience at mid- to large-size businesses
* BA/BS in Computer Science or related field from a reputable institution
* Hands-on deployment and optimization of complex architectures, and advancing customer thinking and awareness within the Modern Applications space
* Experience in administration of Linux Operating Systems
* Experience developing automation solutions with competence in scripting languages for automating frequently executed activities
* Working knowledge of networking concepts and experience with relevant technologies such as Load Balancers/Domain Name System/Secure Socket Layer/Firewalls/Network Address Translation/Network Time Protocol
* Experience troubleshooting operating systems and applications
* Experience with large scale production systems and dealing with production issues
* Strong communication skills and interest in a pairing environment
* U.S. Citizenship
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Possess a current Secret U.S. Security Clearance
* Professional Certifications such as: RHCE, Linux+, MCSA, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer, Security +, CISSP, CCNA
* A DevOps automation background
* Familiarity with application developer challenges, interests, and deployment patterns for Modern Applications
* Domain expertise in infrastructure or programming concepts
* Experience in Test Driven Development and agile methodologies
* Ideal candidates will have familiarity with programming concepts and general Software Development Life Cycle practices
* Hands-on experience with distributed systems and concepts in a real-world environment
* Reliability Engineering experience in support of production systems
* Networking & security experience involving both east / west and ingress /egress considerations for Modern Applications projects and technologies.
SPECIFIC BENEFICIAL TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
* Automation/orchestration tools experience such as Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, OpenShift, Docker, Mesosphere, Rancher, Chef, Ansible, Puppet
* Experience configuring, using, and optimizing observability tools such as Prometheus/Grafana, Wavefront, Datadog
* Experience building and extending tooling and projects using modern languages such as Go & Programming
* Experience with Cloud Hyper-scalers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud
* VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T experience
* Continuous Integration tools experience for production platform automation and release engineering such as Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity
