Database Specialist

We are looking for a Database Specialist for a position on a school district new construction and modernization program.

DUTIES:

  • Defines and supervises work related to the development, modification, testing, and installation of Oracle and/or SQL Server databases.
  • Defines, documents, and implements technical process requirements and program specifications.
  • Creates and maintains database dictionaries.
  • Develops reporting views for school building and service call data.
  • Serves as supporting technical resource for SharePoint design and development.
  • Assists with the development of the technical architecture for websites including hardware, software, scripting, database design and user interface design recommendations.
  • Prepares and writes reports, charts, graphs, and other pictorial representations of raw and statistical data.
  • Manages and supervises data entered by field staff.
  • Recommends and implements systems and procedures for the collection, compilation, and reporting of data.
  • Manages and takes a lead on the processing, reporting, and administration of Facilities Condition Assessment data.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of experience in the design, development, modification, improvement, and implementation of relational database management systems.
  • Three (3) years of experience with physical and logical database design, data security, database recovery and backup techniques, and optimum processing techniques also is required. Two (2) years of this experience must have included using Oracle, SQL Server, or CICS. Two years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project leader capacity.
  • Candidates should have the ability to: Develop long and short-range plans; Diagnose problems in relational database- based software systems; Prepare work plans, time and cost estimates and reports; Read, interpret, and apply technical information; Evaluate and adapt new data processing techniques; Formulate and express difficult technical concepts clearly and effectively in written presentations; Monitor, analyze, and forecast system resources and plan for future growth; Analyze problem situations, define problems, identify relevant factors and relationships, formulate solutions, and recognize the implications of those solutions; Work independently with a minimum of supervision; Think creatively in developing new procedures, methods, or approaches; Re-engineer workflow for users; Manage multiple concurrent projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Information Technology.
  • Knowledge of: Relational database management principles and tools; Data and data warehousing systems analysis and design; Business data processing applications; Principles and techniques of database administration and programming; Project management techniques, including work planning, scheduling, supervision, and reporting; Forecasting and resource planning techniques; Structured programming and design techniques; Modeling, prototyping, simulation, and performance analysis; Internet-enabled and client/server technology; Project Management and Project Tracking; PC and/or Macintosh platforms; Visual Basic, Visual Studio, Visual Basic, .NET, HTML, JavaScript, XML, ASP.NET, SQL server, CSS, SQL, C#; Image optimization and web animation.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the following is preferred: SharePoint infrastructure and development; Sharepoint API and Sharepoint web configuration experience; Web development within the SharePoint environment.
  • Experience in school construction setting is highly preferred.
