We are currently seeking a Health Care Data Engineer for our Data Sciences Practice in Irvine, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Menlo Park, CA, or Atlanta, GA.
In this role, you will work as part of a team to rapidly convert transactional database systems into analytical schemas and implement other data pipelines to support the data sciences team and customer-facing client teams in the health sciences, including health oriented consumer electronics industry.
You will be responsible for:
- Converting, building and managing databases consisting of complex healthcare data from various healthcare settings and sources systems
- Developing production quality ETL processes that repeatedly intakes data from various systems over time and becomes automated to the degree feasible
- Serving as a resident expert in databases, and have the ability creatively to conduct in-database analytics in support of healthcare operations and research
- Providing expertise in evaluating, parsing, cleaning, and integrating data for a wide range of data types including text, images, electronic medical records (EMRs), and sensor data
- Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to support data projects
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Ph.D.
in Computer Science or a related engineering/scientific field OR M.S.
in Computer Science or a related engineering/scientific field and 7+ years of industry experience in the areas of SQL, advanced database manipulation, and in-database analytics
- Minimum 7+ years of experience with data engineering
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Data Engineering, including expertise in ETL, data transformation, development of data workflows
- Advanced Database Analytics
- Data Modeling
- Resource Management
- Proficiency with the following is required:
- Transactional and analytic database systems – SQL and NoSQL
- Experience handling structured and unstructured medical data, EMRs, and insurance claims data is preferred
- The desire to work with a diverse set of clients and engage in innovative work outside of the traditional computer science field
- Strong practical engineering ability combined with leadership and project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
