Must fully understand machine processes in order to make sound recommendations for improving machining efficiency and reducing overall costs.
Must be capable of monitoring machine performance (i.e.
tool wear, product quality, cycle time, etc) and identify and eliminate any process or machines issues that arise.
Provide training, direction, and support to less experienced machine operators.**Job Requirements:****ESSENTIAL DUTIES:**+ Set-up all Swiss-type CNC machines in-house, utilizing the CNC program, tooling, and gauging assigned to the job.
Evaluate overall process for efficiency improvement opportunities and present to management for approval.+ Perform minor program edits to set-up (such as G-code edits), as needed, in conjunction with CNC Programmer.+ Maintains existing CNC programs for standardization and maximum efficiency (cycle time reduction, etc).
Utilizes feedback from shop floor personnel to optimize machining processes.+ Keep machine running throughout shift, while monitoring product quality through regular inspection intervals.+ Troubleshoot and correct machining problems, obtaining assistance from support staff when needed.
Replace assigned tooling as needed, i.e.
drills, boring bars, running tools, etc.+ Support team environment including any cell manufacturing tasks that are needed (i.e.
cleaning of product).+ Perform training on a daily basis to machine operators and set-up technicians.+ Ensure that all documentation is in order (part number, revision, etc) and is kept at the workstation.
Enters data on production documents regarding quantity produced, hours worked, etc.+ Train and oversee the work of less experienced machine operators.+ Determine corrective actions for issues related to quality issues; upon approval from the Director of Manufacturing implement and document the corrective actions taken.+ Other duties and projects as assigned by Management.**OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:** Must be able to fully interpret engineering drawings or blueprints.
Must have good knowledge of raw materials, cutting tool geometry, and related feeds and speeds.
Must have knowledge of precision inspection equipment and methods (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, etc.).
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to train, monitor and motivate new machine operators in a positive and supportive manner.
CNC programming experience required.
