Located in the VCA, Inc. corporate headquarters in Santa Monica, California and reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, the Regional HR Partner functions as a key member of a highly functioning and collaborative Human Resources team, supporting our ever-growing hospital division. Each of our Regional HR Partners are responsible for a geographical region which includes more than 2,000-3,000+ employees and between 80 – 100 animal hospitals. The majority of the Regional HR Partner’s activities will focus on supporting hospital managers and regional leadership in all aspects of employee relations. From time to time, there will be special projects and research. Travel opportunities may also arise occasionally. If you are looking for a chance to apply your exceptional HR people-focused skills in a dynamic, thriving company, this may be the ideal opportunity for you!Essential Functions of the Regional HR Partner include the following: Ensuring that our workforce is treated fairly and reasonably at all times by helping managers to resolve conflicts and dealing with a myriad of complex personnel management situations; Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA; Communicating and interpreting company policy and advising on best practices; Providing guidance to management in conducting w orkplace investigations; Responding to employee concerns to ensure that every employee feels “heard” and well treated; Advising managers with respect to corrective action and separations; Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining business networks; and participating in professional organizations; Completing special projects and state-specific research. The Ideal Candidate will possess: At least 5 years of experience in dealing with complex employee relations issues in medium-large multi-state organization. Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience in Human Resources Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. On-the-job experience with writing position statements and conducting workplace investigations. Strong proficiency with leave administration and the “interactive process.” Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated competence in accurately advising managers on complex HR matters. Physical demands of the position: The Regional HR Partner is part of a small team supporting a nationwide, growing workforce. Each day is dynamic, with constant challenges and an intense pace. Although providing a healthy work/life balance for our team is very important, there are times when the hours are long and irregular. Dedication and motivation are essential. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and sometimes required to walk, reach, stand, and balance. Must be completely comfortable with telephone and email communications. Must be free from or comfortably able to control dog allergies, as there are animals in the workplace on a regular basis. Must be an effective communicator. Occasionally, local driving trips and air travel may be required.
