The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections.

Reporting to the Vice President of People and Culture, the Human Resources Manager will lead our HR Department at the Academy Museum.
You will partner with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) HR team to create and implement Museum policies and procedures and promote positive staff relations to minimize risk.
You Will:
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied consistently and comprehensively, and that documentation is maintained.
- Coach and advise managers and staff on policies and procedures related to personnel management; provide recommendations for training or additional actions as needed.
- Serve as point of contact for staff questions or complaints, including HR policies, benefits, reports of harassment, or other misconduct by co-workers or managers.
- Conduct initial investigations and confer with legal counsel and AMPAS as appropriate.
- Offer consultation, facilitation and resolution strategies for workplace issues.
- Assist in communications between staff and managers.
Assists with all the steps in the disciplinary action process.
- Coordinate staff social engagement and morale building activities.
- Work directly with hiring managers to recruit, interview, select and hire staff, including developing, implementing, and continuously improving a comprehensive on-boarding and Museum orientation program for new staff.
- Manage staff exit/termination process; conduct or participate in all exit interviews.
- Maintain and update personnel files.
- Assist managers in developing staff goals and systems of evaluation or measurement.
- Advise management of changes in federal/state and local laws and regulations relating to staff and the workplace environment.
- Work closely with the Vice President, People and Culture to budget annual departmental spending and monitor such spending to ensure expenses are within the approved budget.
- Establish annual departmental goals and objectives in partnership with the Vice President, People and Culture.
- Develop and coordinate staff recognition programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
You Have:
- 5+ years of experience in the HR field.
- Knowledge of best practices and methodology related to the operations of a Human Resources Department; understanding recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, employee relations, training, and labor laws.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration; current Federal, State, and local employment law; principles of organization and management.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence to build trust and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to keep sensitive information secure and confidential.
