Job Description
Under the direction and collaboration of the People & Culture Team, the HR & Employee Relations Partner will own the employee relations management, compliance, and people operations practices.
The role is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to our teams.
The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.

Responsibilities:
Partner with managers to guide or conduct in-depth investigations on employee relations issues and/or termination, final counseling or other disputes.
Provide policy guidance to managers and instruct on consistent practices regarding terminations and progressive counseling.
Ensure proper documentation on cases.
Manages leaves of absences Help plan and manage Human Resource initiatives Coach, counsel, offer direction and input to managers and employees on company policies and practices, staffing, employee development, HR processes, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Ensures that HR issues are aligned with company values and goals.
Supports the communication and administration company programs and policies Provide advice and work in close consultation with the Head of People & Culture regarding employee and labor relations programming and strategies; including 1099 vs.
project hire determination and any other HR labor practices & processes Administers and interprets labor agreements, administers grievance procedures, and provides labor relations support during contract negotiations.
Serves as liaison between managers/employees and payroll to facilitate resolution of compensation and benefits related issues Represent Magnopus on legal proceedings.
Utilizes facilitation and mediation practices to negotiate resolutions.
Researching Wage & Hour claims Analyze trends and conduct employee relations training Maintenance of the SOP and Employee Handbook Work with senior leaders, operations, studio, production, and other strategic partners for efficiency and process improvement Collaborate and consult with various individuals and departments, establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management and employees as needed to coordinate investigation-related activities and determine outcome recommendations Work closely with managers to ensure constant collaboration and communication to provide counsel and facilitate prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflict which addresses issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with Magnopus policies, practices and legal considerations Identify opportunities for improving ER policies and procedures based on analytics and trends.
Collaborate with Managers on formulating and implementing solutions.
Promote coaching, direct communication, proactive problem resolution and positive rapport amongst employees and managers The ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company Creating and driving effective development, employee relations, retention, and reward programs
Requirements
Baseline:
4-6 years experience as a Sr.
HR Business Partner, Sr.
HR Generalist, or equivalent Managing multiple aspects of the employee relations, compliance, and labor regulations of a start-up or a hyper-growth company Deep knowledge of California and Federal Labor Laws, Policies, and Compliance and skills in providing guidance to management on these topics Expert skills in conducting in-depth investigations on employee relations issues and/or termination, final counseling or other disputes.
Provide policy guidance to managers and instruct on consistent practices regarding terminations and progressive counseling.
Ensure proper documentation on cases A friendly and helpful attitude The ability to balance an empathetic approach to HR while also administering compliance, as it relates the policies, procedures, labor and employment regulations A desire to help others in need and be a team player Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills Clear written and verbal communication Teamwork, but independent motivation Strong skills in conflict management, mediation, and getting to resolutions Ability to handle stress and remain calm under pressure Comfortable being a part of a team of diverse personalities and backgrounds
