Human Resources Business Partner

SUMMARY: The Plant HR Business Partner is responsible to guide, administer, and manage human resources services, policies and programs at plant level.

This position consults with plant, operations and corporate human resources leadership on organization design and human resources initiatives as well as provides workforce analysis and planning.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads and plans recruiting activities and coordinates all stages of the hiring process including approvals for job openings, reviewing and screening applications, conducting interviews, post offer/pre-hire process and onboarding employees.

Manages employee relations at plant level to address employee conflicts and completes effective, thorough and objective investigations as required.

Work with plant management to administer employee discipline or corrective action when needed.

Escalates incidents to Corporate HR as needed.

Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to Plant leadership including Leads, Supervisors, and Mangers.

Manages leave of absence process for site including designating leave type, track documentation, send applicable notices, and follow up as needed.

Understands and interprets policies and procedures in the employee handbook and other state/federal laws to guide plant leadership.

Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures at plant level.

Manages local HR activities such as new hire orientation, processing employee documents, open enrollments, and implementing training and development programs for hourly employees.

Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

Maintains human resource information system records, compiles and analyzes reports from the HRIS.

Prepares for internal and external audits ensuring that required posters are in place, the HRIS information is accurate, and that necessary documentation are completed and properly filed, among other tasks.

Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Partners with the Corporate HR department as needed/required.

Ensure employees and plant fulfill health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the organizational policies and programs.

Manages the safety incident, injury and illness reporting process that may include reporting the injury/illness to the appropriate agency and managing the return to work program and the day-to-day management with insurance agents.

Maintains the organizational chart for the plant.

Uses good judgment to determine when to consult with Corporate HR management.

Oversees (through a dotted reporting line) at least one administrative staff

Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum 2 years experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Demonstrate ability to keep a high level of confidentiality.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and ability to use general office equipment (fax, scanner, copier, etc.)

Self-management skills
– proactive, dependable, organized, and responsible.

Ability to multi-task with excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Possesses a high team-spirit attitude.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate with people at all levels.

Compliance aptitude with demonstrated knowledge of FMLA, WC, EEO, OSHA and most state and federal laws that affect workforce.

Strong leadership skills

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

Bilingual depending on plant’s needs

Previous experience with ADP workforce HRIS/payroll system

PHR or similar certification
