The Assurance Resource Manager is responsible for the strategic deployment of our client service professionals. In this role, the Senior Specialist effectively builds and manages relationships with management level and client service staff personnel to ensure the successful completion of engagements as well as continual development of our staff. This person possesses a solid understanding of the overall business strategy and needs of the practice and offers resource solutions based on industry, experience level, geographical needs, utilization and development of our people. The Senior Specialist will demonstrate excellent customer service, strong technical skills and the ability to creatively design solutions in the deployment of our staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign appropriate client service personnel to engagements. This will involve assessing the engagement needs, reviewing available options, and recommending people that meet the requirements of office/region and clients. When appropriate, challenge the schedule, to confirm the most efficient utilization of resources
- Align staffing decisions with career goals and development opportunities
- Promote and monitor the sharing of resources across offices/regions as needed.
- Monitor unassigned resources and utilization. Act as primary point of contact for local unassigned staff. Proactively identify assignments for these people
- Identify over- and under-utilized personnel, and determine appropriate resources or solutions to balance workload
- Resolve conflicts with engagement team members. This may involve identifying alternative roles that meet engagement requirements and the developmental goals of staff
- Regularly communicate any changes in personnel on engagements with the team and the staff involved
- Monitor employee performance by having open dialogue with engagement teams. Address and elevate issues as necessary
- Build relationships with client service personnel to identify personal schedule preferences and/or career development issues
- Help integrate new hires, explaining the resource management process, lines of communication and hours expectations
- Coordinate the roll off of assignments for terminating/LOA employees. Ensure engagements are reassigned and the system is updated promptly. Assign appropriate work to new hires
- Use scheduling tool and reports to forecast hours needed, track actual utilization, and monitor total headcount. Raise any concerns to HR Director and/or Office Managing Partner
- Access capacity/short falls in headcount and work with recruiting to have any open needs filled.
- Prioritize staffing decisions based on engagement risk, specialization requirements, timing constraints, staffing continuity and geographic considerations
- Attend department performance discussions to further understand employee matters and share input based on interactions with employees and staffing requests.
- Design, run and analyze reports on utilization, billable hours variance, chargeability, and other ad-hoc reports as requested by office leadership
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting or business related field)
- Minimum of 5 years of resource management for Finance/Accounting, or client service delivery experience preferably with a professional services environment, leading projects and directing team members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and build, establish and maintain trust and credibility
- Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail; exceptional Excel and computer software skills
- Very strong written and verbal communication
- Proficient at conflict resolution
- Proven client service focus, with an ability to resolve issues quickly, with a sense of urgency
- Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Confident working independently, with the ability and desire to be a self-starter
Strong organizational skills; comfortable handling multiple tasks with competing priorities
