AKRF is hiring a Certified Arborist/Natural Resources Specialist to join our New York-based team of environmental scientists, ecologists, biologists, environmental toxicologists, statisticians, analysts, and regulatory compliance professionals in New York City or White Plains.
We are currently celebrating 40 years in business delivering the value of strategic thinking to our energy, land development, transportation, and water sector clients, and have an exciting portfolio of work for our expanding natural resources practice.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Tree inventories, tree permitting, tree protection plans, and construction supportWildlife and vegetation surveys, data analysis and report preparationWetland delineations (identification of soils, hydrology and plant indicators) and wetland mapping using handheld GPSThreatened or endangered plant surveysPreparation of natural resources analyses in support of Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental AssessmentsPreparation of USCG, USACE, and NYSDEC permit applicationsRequirements of the position include, but are not limited to: Current Certified Arborist (CA) license A master’s degree and strong skills with respect to plant ecology, wetlands ecology, riparian ecology, conservation biology, or related scienceTwo to six years of professional experience conducting natural resource field surveys, including vegetation identification/surveys, wetland delineations, habitat assessments, wildlife surveysExperience conducting tree inventories using CTLA or NYC Parks Tree Valuation Protocols, tree protection plans, tree work permitting, and construction support Experience applying for environmental permits and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements Ability to exhibit competent understanding of Federal and State environmental laws and regulationsStrong plant identification skills with knowledge of special status plant species of New York StateAbility to conduct field work under a variety of conditions The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills; exhibit proven problem-solution skills; and be a detail-oriented and resourceful professional.
