Coral Tree Café was founded by Brentwood residents who wanted a dining experience different than what their neighborhood already had to offer. Answering an increasing demand for healthy dining in a casual atmosphere, the concept for Coral Tree Café was born.

When deciding on a name that best represented the restaurant and Brentwood, Coral Tree Café was chosen for its inspiration; the beautiful Coral Trees lining San Vicente Boulevard, located directly across from the restaurant. Coral Tree Café opened its doors in November of 2002 and the response from our customers has been outstanding.

At Coral Tree Café all of our coffees are certified organic, shade grown and fairly traded. Coral Tree Café coffee comes from coffee beans that have been grown under a canopy of shade trees which serves as a natural sun screen and provides a safe and natural habitat for migratory birds and other species. “Fair trade” provides an alternative trade model that keeps small farmers in business by guaranteeing them a fair price for their coffee. These are important aspects to the sustainability of coffee that is better tasting and socially responsible. This reflects Coral Tree Café’s commitment to the delicate ecosystem, our customers’ health and fair trade practice.

We are looking for a dishwasher who can create a sanitary and safe environment for our staff and wonderful clientelle.

Essential Functions:

  • Position wares in designated racks correctly and send through dishwashing machine only when full.
  • Inspect the cleanliness and condition of all washed wares and rewash wares not meeting standards.
  • Sort, stack and store cleaned wares in designated areas.
  • Handle all wares carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
  • Change dishwashing machine water/filters and refill as specified to ensure all wares are properly cleaned.
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned to the highest standards.
  • Ensure appropriate practice the correct storage of produce, chemicals and disposables according to OSHA.
  • To ensure that all environmental health regulations are met, relevant documents are completed, temperature records are taken for refrigerators and freezers, records are kept of meat and fish temperatures and foods are labeled and dated.
  • Ensure the kitchen is cleaned after every service.
  • Work with all kitchen staff to ensure that kitchen cleanliness standards are met.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
  • Maintain positive attitude and guest relations at all times.
  • Report shortages of supplies to supervisor; replenish as needed throughout the shift.
  • Check the working condition of dishwashing machine in accordance with specifications; rectify any deficiencies.
  • Monitor usage of dishwashing machine and chemicals to maximize consumption of water and chemicals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and working condition of garbage disposal.
  • Clean spills in Kitchen and work areas immediately.
  • Occassionaly help prep foods as needed.
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs for the restaurant such as holidays and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned by Managers.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience as dishwasher, kitchen steward, or custodian in a fast-paced, restaurant preferred.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • A strong belief in the art of hospitality and the desire to create meaningful guest experiences.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Food Handler’s certification.
