Job Responsibilities/Duties

Med/Surg

• The Registered Nurse – Med/Surg collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines, physicians, and support staff.  Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychosocial, psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.  Will reevaluate patient response and outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary.  Acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of new graduate nurses, orientees and support staff. 

Urgent Care

• The Urgent Care or EMS Standby Registered Nurse is specially trained to provide prompt response and treatment for any patient presenting with any life threatening, emergent, or urgent medical need.  Provides monitoring and therapeutic equipment necessary to provide specialized nursing care to acute or complex patients. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines, physicians, and support staff.  Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychosocial, psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.  Will reevaluate patient response and outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary.  Acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of new graduate nurses, orientees and support staff. 

Critical Care

• The Critical Care Registered Nurse is specially trained in hemodynamic monitoring and therapeutic equipment necessary to provide specialized medical and/or surgical nursing care to acute or complex, critically ill patients.  Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines, physicians, and support staff.  Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychosocial, psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.  Will reevaluate patient response and outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary.  Acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of new graduate nurses, orientees and support staff.  

Wound Care

• The Wound Care Registered Nurse functions as the clinical expert, actively involved in clinical practice issues related to wound care.  Incumbent is responsible for the quality of nursing practice and standards of care provided to patients with wounds and those at risk for pressure ulcer development.  Functions as a role model to assist and educate the nursing staff providing the day to day care; risk assessments, potential for healing, and wound care product selection.  Assists clinical leadership in leading, planning, controlling and evaluating nursing practices and operations as it relates to skin, wounds, and ostomy. Incorporates the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient & family, using clinical knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:  Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. 

Minimum Experience:  Experience will vary depending on deptarment.

Req. Certification/Licensure:  AHA Basic Life Support, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support required. Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) required.

Sign On Bonus Eligibiity: To be eligible for the Sign On Bonus, you must have one or more years (1+) of acute care RN hospital experience. Current Alta Hospital employees are not eligible and former Alta Hospital employees may not be eligible. The Sign on Bonus Program is only available for full-time RN positions. Bonus payments are made in increments over the course of 24 months to active employees in good standing.
