Responsibilities The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Clinical Social Worker to join the divisions’ STAR (Stress, Trauma, and Resilience) Clinic.

You will provide psycho-diagnostic assessment and psychotherapy services to children (ages 0-21), parents, and families.

Other duties include:Provide training and mentoring on mental health issues to professionals and parents in the communityProvide consultation to interdisciplinary team membersLead parent support groups, providing supportive therapeutic environmentsProvide referrals to community agencies for ongoing assistance with children and families’ assessed needsHold caseload of individual therapy and collateral therapyProvide temperament counseling for parentsQualificationsMaster’s Degree in Social WorkLicense in Clinical Social Work (highly preferred)Skill, knowledge, and experience with mental health treatment and intervention techniques for children (ages 0-21) and their parentsBackground in parent-child intervention with high-risk childrenKnowledge of normal child development, parenting, and child abuse/neglect3 years clinical experience in working with adoptive families with special needs, including prenatal substance exposure (preferred)Experience with Department of Mental Health billing and paperwork requirements (preferred)Experience providing evidence-based practices to children and families (preferred)Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner to audiences of various backgrounds and orientationAbility to function as an integral member of an interdisciplinary teamKnowledge of basic medical terminology and issues regarding prenatal substance abuse and its impact on the childSkill in writing clearly to articulate concepts and ideas in a logical manner, both for general and professional audiencesUCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
