This includes the delivery of aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and lung function testing.
Employee is responsible for the drawing, analyzing, and resulting of blood gases.
If filling is as “Lead” for shift, reviews work-load and assists in determining proper staff for following shift and next day.
Makes staff assignment, is a resource to staff for technical questions, ensures that work on the shift is completed, ensures completed ECG’s are removed from list and ensures that overdue task and medication list is cleared off.
Employee is responsible for following the regulatory requirements in of the blood gas lab; running of quality control and changing of analyzer cartridges.
Proper time management and prioritization skills Draws, labels, results, and reports blood gases and critical values according to policy.
Interdisciplinary education and plan of care is documented on initial treatment and as needed thereafter Is able to calibrate and perform bedside pulmonary function tests.
Is able to set up, monitor, and make changes on all ventilators, invasive and non-invasive, including documentation of all changes in I-view Able to complete therapy driven protocols appropriately.
Patients are placed on appropriate therapy according to their condition and diagnosis.
Oxygen rounds and breathing treatments are performed timely, including documentation.
Checks overdue medication and task list prior to end of shift and completes outstanding orders.
Perform respiratory therapy treatments and procedures competently according to physician’s orders, department policy, respiratory protocol and recognized standards of care.QualificationsWhat will you need: Has worked in an acute care (hospital) setting within the last 3 years Attended respiratory therapy program prior to obtaining license Basic computer knowledge including, word and excel, and computerized medical record documentation Mechanical and non-invasive ventilation knowledge RRT or CRT Florida State License.
Maintains continuing education to meet regulatory requirements for licensure.
BLS, NRP.
If does not have NRP must be obtained within six months of hire Minimum one year Critical care experienceAble to perform ECG’s accurately.
Downloads order to cart, selects patient, saves and transfers ECG to Cerner.
Charts ECG’s done in Cerner.
Removes competed ECG’s from task list (Preferred)Two years hospital experience with one year being critical care.
(Preferred)Job Summary:Competently performs clinical patient assessment related to job title.
Delivers therapy to patient’s including breathing treatments, EKG’s and arterial blood gases.
Manages oxygen therapy, performs adult and infant intubations, and manages mechanical ventilators per protocol or by following physician specific orders.
Assesses patients ordered for respiratory protocol to determine proper type and frequency of respiratory treatment.
