Description:Providence is calling a Surgery Technician III GI Lab (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.We are seeking a Surgery Technician III GI Lab who will prepare surgery suite for surgical procedures.

Function as a ” Sterile” memberof the surgical team during procedures.

Responsible for providing appropriate instrumentation and supplies to the surgeon in using aseptic technique.

Participate in the daily activities of the department as an active team member.

Demonstrate proficiency in delivering care to assigned age specific patient population (e.G., infants, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, pediatrics), and participates in related continuing education.In this position you will:Implement and maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives as well as improving organization performance program, patient/customer safety, environmental, and infection control policiesAssist surgeons during operations limited to the surgical technologist scope of practiceMaintain aseptic techniques; actively monitor situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.

Report breaks in technique immediately to circulator and surgeon.

Wear eye protection at all timesPrepare the Operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of caseAssist in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges Report incorrect counts immediately to surgeonOpen sterile supplies and sets up for proceduresAssist with care and maintenance of department equipment and suppliesAssist in cleaning and preparing rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaningMonitor and restock suppliesProvide comfort and support for pre operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient’s care and privacyMaintain a surgical ” Neutral zone” for passing of surgical sharpsIdentify and care for specimensEnhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings, and workshopsCover on call assignments; arrive at Medical Center within 30 minutes of notificationDrape patients for surgical proceduresTransports patients to and from clinical, ancillary, and support department areas as directed by circulator and/or charge nurseAttend meetings as requiredParticipate in unit/hospital quality improvement activitiesQualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:Course in surgical technology or On the job trainingBLS for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association.
