Pathologists’ Assistant (Part-Time)

Responsibilities
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a part-time Pathologists’ Assistant.

Primary responsibilities include:
Under general supervision of a pathologist, independently perform or assist in dissection, describing, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens
Perform specimen photography and radiography
Perform frozen sections and other intraoperative consultations
Procure tissue for tumor banking and research studies
Participate in the orientation and training of residents, fellows, new employees, and Pathologists’ Assistant students in surgical pathology protocols and procedures
Identify, investigate, and resolve problems related to surgical pathology
Participate and/or assist in accessioning and labeling specimens
Note:
This is a contract position that’s anticipated to last for one year
Eligible to convert to career

Qualifications
Must be able to work outside of normal shift hours and/or overtime
Bachelor’s degree
PA (ASCP) certified or must pass PA (ASCP) exam within 12 months of hire
2 or more years of relevant work experience, preferred
