The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this seven-laboratory facility, a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures is performed for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.
The Electrophysiology Laboratory is part of the Cardiovascular intervention Center. In these laboratories, a wide range of invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for regular heartbeat is performed. These procedures include electrophysiology studies, arrhythmia mapping, radiofrequency ablation, implantable cardioverter defibrillator and pacemaker implantation.

What will you be doing:
The Nurse Practitioner – Cardiology Diagnostic is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intra-departmental liaison, education, leadership and patient care management across the health care continuum including preventative care acute care through discharge, and ambulatory care environments.
- Provide care to our Interventional Cardiology patient population in an outpatient setting.
- Responsible for the managing, planning, and coordinating of all aspects of care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Provide consultative services within the scope of service.
- Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
- Record and interpret pertinent data (i.e., labs, diagnostic studies, progress notes, etc.), including writing orders under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Write progress notes and collate records utilizing the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate ongoing overall patient care with physicians, staff, nursing staff, and other ancillary care providers to ensure treatment plans are implemented.

- Maintain communication with patients and families regarding care.
Experience Requirements:
One (1)+ years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an Acute hospital preferred.
Three (3)+ years of acute nursing experience.
Prior experience in cardiac or cardiac surgery is strongly preferred.
Educational/Licensure/Certifications Requirements:
Master of Nursing Degree
Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered
Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License
National Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner
Current DEA license and Furnishing Number or eligibility to obtain
Current ACLS certification required
