Medical Secretary

MEDICAL SECRETARY DUTIES: Greet patients, screen calls, take messages, schedules appointments, directs patients, provide patient with information and completes check-in process Prepares and processes correspondence, answers routine medical inquiries and drafts letters.

Obtains, verifies, and updates patient information and provides support services to patients and medical staff.

Integral in the mobile process, input demographics, schedule appointments and forward information to reading physician.

Completes monthly recalls for physicians, nuclear and echo techs.

Print and mail patient appointment postcards.

Requests, locates, sends and receives patient’s medical records.

Prepares charts maintains medical records.

REQUIREMENTS: High school graduation or GED.

Minimum of two years of computer experience in a medical office setting desired.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.

Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports, and correspondence.

Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.

Skill in operating a computer, fax and copy machine.

Ability to type 25 wpm.

Ability to read, understand, and follow oral, and written instruction.

Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
