provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients.
The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of ASRT, Inc., and will be assigned to the to the Applied Research and Evaluation Branch (AREB), Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) located at 4770 Buford Highway NE, Atlanta, GA, to provide services to satisfy the applied research and evaluation objectives for DHDSP.SCOPE OF WORKThe Health Economist will create analysis plans and perform econometric data analysis in support of work that documents the burden and impact of cardiovascular diseases, studies the cost effectiveness of public health interventions, or supports DHDSP’s economic research agenda.
Selection of topics for study will be identified by CDC.
The Health Economist will identify relevant databases, perform statistical analyses, and provide results, reports or manuscripts.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform economic analyses such as those that document the burden of cardiovascular disease, cost and cost effectiveness of prevention strategies, etc.
for review and approval of the COR.Provide technical and statistical support on economics theory and analysis methods for Division economics activities.
Prepare two reports or briefs summarizing the results of economic research projects.
Respond to no more than four technical assistance requests from grantees and provide training and consultation to complete state-specific economic analysis.
This may be done in person or virtually at the discretion of the COR.
At most one site visit per contract period is anticipated.
Present the findings of economic research work for CDC staff and managers through informal or formal methods such as lunch and learn sessions for staff and briefings for Division senior leadership and other key partners.
Maintain written documentation of data sources used, statistical methods applied, and statistical results for each analysis completed.
Prepare one summary report for each economic analysis completed that includes a summary of the analysis methods and results.
Disseminate results of analysis and findings to key partners.
Method of dissemination will be determined by the COR depending on the type of information and key audience.
Maintain written documentation including; codebooks with variable names and values for new data sources, annotating statistical programs, summarizing and referencing statistical methods, and providing detailed tables of statistical results.
All work created as part of this contract will be saved and accessible to CDC staff on a CDC shared drive identified by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:Master’s Degree (such as MPH or MS) or PhD in health, allied sciences or public health.Required:At least 1 year of experience in the public health field.Knowledge and experience in the field of research and evaluation.Background in health economics research, quantitative modeling, prevention effectiveness research, and/or public health.Strong written and oral skills.Strong interpersonal skills required for teamwork and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners.Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word software.Desirable:CDC or other federal health background is highly desirable.Interest in chronic disease prevention and health promotion preferred.Language Skills:The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English REQUIREMENT:Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United StatesSALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experienceTo apply for this position:If you are viewing this position on the ASRT Career Center, please click on the “Apply Now” button.
