Clinician – LSW/LPC

The purpose of the Therapist/Clinician is to assist in providing a safe environment for individuals while they are in recovery.

The Primary Therapist facilitates the clinical process, answers inquiries, and assists patients adjusting to the program routine.

He or she holds daily groups, documenting progress in the medical record and assisting the patients with all case management actives.Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or equivalent.

(Master’s degree preferred)At least twelve months experience working in the substance abuse and/ or mental health field.

Detoxification experience preferred.

Experience delivering lectures on addiction and conducting group sessions.Licensure or certification such as LSW, LCDC III, LPC (and desire to ensure that your license to practice remains active)Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications.

Knowledge of community health resources that support life improvement in physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health, economic security, employment, etc.Knowledge of community health resources that support life improvement in physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health, economic security, employment, positive social and family interdependence and positive cultural identity includingKnowledge of the stages of alcohol and other drug withdrawals and ability to take appropriate action at each stage.Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:ConfidentialityPatient RightsProfessional Code of EthicsDiscriminationKnowledge of airborne and blood borne pathogens (TB, HIV, AIDS, HB) and risk reduction methodologies and the use of universal precautions.Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.Responsibilities:Complete intakes on new patient admissions and orientation procedures and schedules.De-escalate AMA/ACA and other patient problemsParticipate in all staff meetings as scheduled to enhance communication with the multidisciplinary treatment teamConduct and document daily groups.

Provide groups on topics to include reviewing the orientation manual, schedule, medication times and procedures for requesting to see Medical.

Provide other groups that include education groups focused on the disease process and the need for continued treatment.

Document all groups in the patient medical recordDocument all activities in the patient medical record and file all notes in the charts daily for UR purposes.Diagnose substance use disorder and/or other co-occurring psychiatric disorders within scope of practice.Complete the patient’s biopsychosocial within 24-48-hours of the patient admission.Complete all documentation according to the internal company and licensing agencies standards.Maintain a caseload between 5-18 patients at one time (or based on facility’s license and population).Complete SUD and Mental Health treatment plans and reviews for all patients based on the patient’s level of care.Ongoing healthy communication with the patients’ families.Report to the Clinical Director or Dir.

of Clinical Programming for all emergencies and/or concernsRemind patients of program rules and regulations as necessary and report infractions appropriately.Complete all assigned documentation in a neat, accurate and timely manner.Complete incident reports according to policy in a timely, accurate manner.Interact appropriately with patients, showing them respect while maintaining boundaries.Exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage patient behavior.Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the organization’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a health care provider.

May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties.
