Clinical Nurse Educator – Oncology

Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is a registered nurse whose practice is clinical nursing education and who oversees required education, competency, training, and professional development for the oncology population specific nursing staff in the UCLA Health system.

Encompasses the delivery of clinician (primarily nursing), professional/leadership development, policies, activities, assessment tools, and systems.

Promotes excellence in patient care, through skill acquisition in evidence based nursing practice and clinical inquiry.

Collaborates with nursing leadership (Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nursing Professional Development Specialists) to deliver educational programs and secure resources based on needs assessments and adult learning theory.

Meets the diverse requirements of the nursing units, patient populations, regulatory and accreditation and strategic goals of the organization/health system.

Qualifications
Current CA RN license, required
BSN, MSN in Nursing Education/Education, or committed to or currently enrolled in MSN in Nursing Education, required
Thorough knowledge of a broad spectrum of nursing professional development practices and issues
3 years of recent acute care experience, required
Strong interpersonal skills to provide education, training, and resources to develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership
Detail oriented, with proven organizational skills to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion to meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel and to convey complex clinical information in a clear and concise manner
Thorough knowledge of a broad spectrum of professional nursing practices and issues
Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities and able to quickly assess moderately complex problems to develop potential solutions
