This can be in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team.

This care includes pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum period, immediate care of the newborn following birth, family planning and gynecologic needs.

Ensures coordination of care for the patient in collaboration with other Perinatal, Neonatal and Birth Center team members.

Follows standards for Nurse Midwifery Practice established by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and Minnesota statute.Job Description:Principle Responsibilities Provides direct patient care Assesses patients on admission to the hospital or clinic including physical, emotional and psychosocial needs.

Develops, implements and evaluates plan of care in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Facilitates communication between physician, patient, family and all health team members to ensure a unified approach to the plan of care.

Determines educational needs of patients and families, providing relevant education and/or collaboration with health care team to ensure they are addressed.

Coordinates discharge plan and follow-up in collaboration with physician, giving the information and appropriate education to patient and family.

Documents all care in a timely manner to ensure accurate patient record and billing.

Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team Works to develop interdisciplinary plans of care that address the unique physical, cultural, socioeconomic, psychological and spiritual factors that may affect the health status of the woman.

Assumes a leadership role in establishing and monitoring standards of practice to improve patient care in collaboration with other nursing experts as appropriate.

Promotes collegiality within the team Contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues and others.

Works to improve patient care, develop relationships, and to foster the growth of the profession.

Other duties as assigned.Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree Graduate from Accredited School of Nursing required Formal education as Nurse practitioner required Master’s degree In nursing or related field preferred Licensed Registered Nurse
– MN Board of Nursing required upon hire BLS Tier 1
– Basic Life Support
– Multisource required within 180 Days AMCB American Midwifery Certification Board upon hire required Previous Certified Nurse Midwife experience preferred Coverage at United, Abbott and St.
