The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine are seeking a full time faculty member with research and clinical experience in histocompatibility testing and immunogenetics for the position of Assistant Director of HLA Laboratory at CHLA at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.

The successful candidate must hold a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree and be licensed with the appropriate board certifications to serve as a Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory Director in the state of California.

The candidate will be expected to develop histocompatibility and immunogenetics related research and participate in teaching.

Experience with a range of histocompatibility laboratory testing services (HLA and KIR typing, chimerism testing, and transplant biomarkers) for bone marrow transplantation, solid organ transplantation and genetic risk assessment is desirable.

Expertise in microarrays for detection of antibodies and state-of -the-art molecular genetic technologies (e.g., NGS, third generation sequencing and digital PCR) is desirable.

Along with the director, the candidate will participate in the development and implementation of new tests, ensure the continuing education of the staff and participate in the quality assurance program of the laboratory.

He/she will participate in multi-disciplinary research in collaboration with clinical teams working at CHLA and KSOM and will be expected to participate in the appropriate departmental teaching programs with medical students, fellows and residents.

Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training.
