The Role

Jellysmack is seeking a creative and results-driven Director of Public Relations to lead our PR team and guide our brand to new levels.

As the Director of Public Relations you will be responsible for leading all outward PR strategies and plans that promote the business, our product image, our talent, our leaders, and our reputation.

You will be responsible for overseeing the strategic development and execution of various publicity campaigns, ensuring that our brand image remains consistent and positive worldwide.

You will set the PR vision for the company and manage global PR agencies to bring that strategy to life.

To be successful in this role, the Director of PR should be an excellent leader with a deep understanding of traditional and digital media, social content, creator culture, pop culture, marketing trends, and technology.

You will work closely with internal cross-functional partners, media outlets, creator talent, investors and partners in developing and executing initiatives that address the business’s corporate image.

You will serve as one of the key media contacts and representatives for the global organization.

As a public-facing spokesperson for Jellysmack, you will also play a key role in the promotion of our organization’s culture that promotes teamwork, integrity, high performance, continuous improvement, and commitment to quality across all initiatives.

The top candidate will be a brilliant communicator and an excellent writer with strong media relationships and credibility who is capable of representing our brand effectively to the public.

The Responsibilities
Setting the global strategy and overseeing the development, implementation, and integration of communications plans that advance the business’s brand identity in the market.
Overseeing the daily operations of the U.S.

public relations agency and partnering with global marketing teams and their local PR firms to ensure a consistent brand message worldwide.
Participating in the evaluation and selection of regional PR agencies in coordination with regional marketing teams.
Planning and executing publicity campaigns including setting the optimal timing for different stories, assisting in the drafting of all press releases (with support of a copywriter), reviewing and approving all global press releases, securing quotes, and crafting the pitch plan to media outlets for each story.
Developing and maintaining direct relationships with media organizations with a focus on business outlets, trade publications (especially in media/entertainment), tech publications and consumer media.
Supporting the marketing, events and social media teams in the promotion and execution of campaigns to ensure a consistent voice across all touchpoints with a focus on building brand awareness, credibility, trust and legitimacy with partners worldwide.
Serve as a partner to the Director of Global Events in ensuring key media coverage and participation at all brand events.
Identifying speaking opportunities for senior management and pitching the company for participation at leading conferences and events worldwide.
Preparing briefing materials for leadership for all interviews/stories
– providing background material to assist with interview or panel prep; with information on the interviewer/journalist, their outlet, prior articles they have written and other data to support the story.
Speaking on behalf of the company in interviews and press conferences as needed.
Participating in the creation of editorial content; for example, newsletters, blogs, emails, reports, social posts, web content and other marketing collateral materials to ensure that all content put out by the business, both in print and online, conforms with the business’s overall values and messages.
Providing media training and advice to senior management in advance of speaking opportunities to coach them on speaking points and delivery.
Partnering with talent and their management to ensure high quality participation on our panels and at our events; coordinating logistics for their involvement including appearance fees, travel or other details.
Tracking campaign success and media coverage.
Preparing/presenting reports on the effectiveness of PR campaigns.
Ensuring brand consistency in all publicity worldwide; guiding local teams and agencies on optimal strategies.
Managing public relations budgets.
Addressing negative press or PR crises if they occur.
Hiring a best-in-class PR team.
Requirements

The Qualifications
Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, English or a relevant field.
8+ years of experience working in a high ranking PR position.
Prior experience supervising and managing a public relations team.
Successful track record in garnering positive media coverage for a business or product in a complex business setting/market; preferably related to social media or technology.

B2B PR and experience working for a social media platform is a plus.
Expert knowledge of social media, online marketing, and internet culture.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Creative thinking with an affinity for innovation and problem-solving.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Established connections with media outlets and influential accounts.
Solid understanding of web and marketing analytics to assess campaign performance.
An ability to communicate complex and technical messages in simple terms that different audiences can relate to.
Leadership qualities that enable you to motivate a team to achieve its goals.
