Lahmon Architects is looking for a Project Architect/ Job Captain with experience in multi-family housing to join our ever-evolving family in our mission to provide unique, high quality, sensible housing solutions to neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles. Were an architectural studio specializing in multi-family and mixed-use housing with extensive experience in publicly funded housing in the City of Los Angeles. Job Title: Project Architect / Job Captain

7+ years of experience in Multi-family and Mixed Used Housing; especially in the City and County of Los Angeles, CA. Experience in the design of Affordable Housing is a plus.

Job Summary

Project Architect is a licensed professional who oversees the development of the design of a project collaborating with the managing/studio director along with the production of the construction documents. This individual oversees the construction administration of a project.

While a team effort, the PA is heavily relied upon to ensure the quality, accuracy, and professionalism of the instruments of service and the facilitation of the final architectural product. Code knowledge is also crucial along with an ability to lead a team of architects and designers, communicate well, and have proficiency in a wide range of software.

Responsibilities and Duties

Ability to provide test fits/ pre-design studies for multi-family projects in the City of Los Angeles (strong understanding of local zoning codes)

Strong design abilities that meet the firms approach and mission in design

Ability to create a program as well as translate it into a sensible concept design

Responsible for the accuracy of design and documents

Responsible to ensure all client expectations and code requirements

Responsible for scheduling and staffing. Determining what is required for project delivery/ submittals and determining how to deliver them on time exceeding expectations

Responsible to maintain the accuracy of project data through document revisions

Primary decision maker in relation to the proper execution in the development of the design, carrying the intent through documentation considering constructability and detailing making sure the design in intent is maintained with rigor

Responsible for project design details and the creation of them

Responsible for ensuring documentation meets design intent, office standards, providing the ideal information to ensure proper execution by the GC.

Redline documents for job captain and rest of team

Ability to accurately produce meeting minutes or review meeting minutes that maintain the offices standard of professionalism

Ultimately responsible for consultant coordination

Strong mentorship abilities to help develop designers

Responsible to enforce office standards and protocols

Responsible for material selection, product research, pricing and in incorporation into the documents

Complete understanding of the agency approval process and ability to assist in the process when needed to resolve the most complicated situations.

CA:

Responsible to foresee the design through construction via jobsite observations, i.e., ability to detect construction mistakes early on

Review RFIs and Submittals along with job captain

Qualifications and Skills

Experienced architect with more than 7 years experience leading small to large residential mixed-use, market rate, and affordable projects from Concept Design through Construction Administration

Strong portfolio reflecting vision and an eye for detail

Strong graphic, organization, and communication skills

Must display a high level of commitment and integrity with clients and co-workers

Must have good construction detailing abilities

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within the project team

Proficient in using Revit

Experience working with different jurisdictional agencies, especially LA City

Experience in implementing zoning, planning, and building codes and standards

Familiar with CTCAC, LACDA, LAHCID funding requirements and application processes desired

Licensed Architect in California preferred but not required

Salary: Commensurate with experience and skill, position is full-time with benefits (health insurance 100% paid, dental and vision contributed, 401K matching and profit sharing). Candidates need to be currently legal to work within the United States and immediately available.
