We are looking for an Instrument Electrician, residentially based in the Long Beach or Los Angeles area, to perform installation maintenance inspection, design and troubleshooting to electrical and instrument equipment and to coordinate the Instrumentation Electrician function with overall Plant operations.
This role covers multiple shifts in a 24/5 operation and shifts are generally assigned by plant seniority.
What the role entails
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor of Rio Tinto Minerals, you will be responsible for:
Installing conduit, switchgears, control devices, transformers, electrical feeders, programmable logic controllers (PLC).
Human machine interface (HMI) devices, instrument and process control equipment
Using a PC (personal computer) to diagnose and program PLC’s and HMI’s and to test and calibrate control loops
Performing basic troubleshooting in electrical control, distribution and motor protection and control
Locating and repairing faults on single and poly phase circuits, and troubleshoots circuits containing electronic components, printed circuit boards and PLC based controllers
Completing work assignments in accordance with relevant HSE work instructions and job procedures
Maintaining familiarization with HSE components of relevant work instructions and job procedures
Maintaining a clean, safe and organized work area
Maintaining records and reports as required
What you will need for this role
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
At least 4 years of qualified experience as an Instrumentation Electrician
Proficiency in the use of test and calibration equipment and Personal computers
Ability to read and understand and apply schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, process flow drawings, service manuals and capability to make it detailed as built drawing of completed projects
Ability to read, write and perform basic math and possess practical knowledge of AC/DC electrical and electronic theory, ohms law, and Kirchoffs laws and ability to understand voltage drop
Skills to understand the National Electric Code and possess working knowledge of how instruments operate in a loop and some knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives
