Infrastructure Project Manager

US Tech Solutions is seeking a  “Infrastructure Project Manager ”  for a 6+ month contract position with a client in   Los Angeles, CA

Description:  

The position is responsible for managing the execution and delivery of technology projects as part of larger product portfolios within IT Infrastructure & Operations.

Job Responsibilities  

• Primarily responsible for execution and management of a portfolio of projects, which may include one or larger projects, as well as smaller enhancements.
• Responsible for scope control with internal & external stakeholders, task execution with the development team and relevant upward communication to managers.
• Helps define process improvements and feedback for large, multi-part projects that need creative project management strategies required for timely execution.
• Identify and resolve lack of clarity across teams on project components, questions, and anything that hinders the forward progress of projects.

• Provide necessary feedback to project stakeholders that could include specification feedback, escalating issues to managers, and managing scope changes and/or clarifications to project resources.
• Provide continuous visibility into gaps, issues, risks, and opportunities across teams, solving and where needed escalating impediments via meetings, emails, and documentation.
• Manage handoffs at each stage in the project life cycle according to guidelines specified in the department’s development protocol.
• Partner with multiple Agile teams, including managing milestones, identifying and tracking issues and risks, as well as driving the team to meet project goals.
• Train, coach and evangelize the Agile mindset, frameworks, and practices.

• Consult with internal IT customers on net new and cloud migration initiatives.

Work experience  

• General understanding of hybrid and full cloud infrastructure technologies (Preferably Azure – IaaS, PaaS & SaaS solutions)
• Proficient in infrastructure, operations, and IT data/application platform standards & technologies
• General understanding of network and security implementation best practices on-prem and cloud native offerings in Azure or AWS

• General understating of virtualization, storage, and networking technologies and concepts
• General understanding of various serverless technologies and container-based platforms including Azure Functions, Kubernetes, and Docker
• Ability to manage vendor relationships and collaborate with internal technical and business-oriented teams
• Expert knowledge using Agile work management tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical individuals

• Must have good verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Must be able to work constructively in a team environment
• Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision
• Strong customer and results orientation mindset
• Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity

Experience:

• Required: 5+ years IT project management experience with ability to balance multiple priorities and excel in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
• Required: Experience with Project Management and Agile Software Development toolsets: JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheets, Windows Suite (MPP, Excel).
• Preferred: 7+ years IT project management experience with ability to balance multiple priorities and excel in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

  Education 

• Required: BA or BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
• Preferred: PMP and/or CSM Certification
