Infrastructure Advisors- Senior Associate

The opportunity

The Ernst & Young Infrastructure Advisors, LLC (EYIA) team provides financial, strategic and commercial advice on large scale infrastructure projects and programs across the United States, with a focus on public sector clients (e.g., state and local agencies, economic development authorities and universities) and innovative capital projects and programs (including public-private partnerships) across multiple sectors, including all modes of transportation, utilities and renewable energy, social infrastructure and urban redevelopment, and other components of the built environment.

EYIA and its professionals are registered with the SEC and MSRB to serve as municipal advisors when we advise state and local government clients.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Associate within Infrastructure Advisory, you’ll be a core, client-facing member of small engagement teams, making this role ideal for developing your skills and career.

With support from your tight-knit team, you’ll have the autonomy to grow and excel, all while working on truly transformational infrastructure projects.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Assisting clients in the development and implementation of strategies to advance large-scale infrastructure projects and programs through: financial modelling and analysis, business case development, risk analysis and mitigation, advice on state and federal programs, procurement strategy and support, capital planning, regulatory advice, and project management support.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of project/program funding, financing and delivery mechanisms at the local, state and national levels to support analysis of client projects.
  • Participate in virtual and in-person meetings with clients as well as legal, technical and other third party consulting team members to help forge relationships and deliver on engagements.
  • Contribute to writing and developing key work products, including briefing memoranda, notes, reports, and presentations.
  • Assist with market tracking and research, business development, proposal writing and creation of marketing materials.
  • Develop and mentor team members at intern levels and serve as peer advisor to new hires.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelors degree and at least 3-4 years of highly relevant and transferrable work experience; or a graduate degree and at least 2-3 years of highly relevant and transferrable work experience.
  • Experience in financial analysis, capital planning, urban planning, and/or public sector procurement.
  • A demonstrated passion for work involving the public good and infrastructure or strong desire to develop professionally in the infrastructure finance arena.
  • Outstanding analytical and creative thinking capabilities and the ability to clearly present them.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and writing skills and high-level of attention to detail in text.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and comfort with working with diverse teams and clients and making oral presentations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel, as well as being prepared to work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
