The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space & Launch (S&L) Software Development and Integration Capability team is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer/Architect located in El Segundo, CA.
The selected candidate will be responsible for leading a diverse group of junior-level through senior-level real-time/embedded software engineers to develop innovative spacecraft software/architecture solutions in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The candidate will oversee teams in various phases of maturity, spanning from project inception through operational sustainment, for both program-unique and product-line projects. Position Responsibilities:
• Leads software architecture development, collaborating with a cross-functional team of electronics, hardware, and systems engineers
• Leads spacecraft control and mission software application development and verification teams in an agile secure development environment
• Functions as overall software project engineer for Agile software development efforts
• Oversees technical and programmatic performance of 3rd party software suppliers
• Guides software Change Control Board decisions
• Works closely with Product Line Flight Software Chief Engineer, program personnel, and management to recommend/implement process improvements
• Supports independent review of program artifacts and estimates This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). A current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
• Extensive experience with real-time software architectures and embedded software design methodologies
• Experience leading Agile software development teams across full software development lifecycle
• Hands-on experience in C/C++, operating systems, I/O drivers, networking, and object-oriented design
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Experience with software supplier management that spans the full lifecycle (SDRL reviews, planning, requirements allocation, work statement definition, metrics reporting, design reviews, acceptance test engagement, product transition to fielding/production as well as program maintenance activities)
• Experience with Unix/Linux and/or embedded RTOS involving multi-processing, container architectures, virtual machines, and secure partitioning
• Experience with real-time flight and controls algorithms
• Experience with DevSecOps / Continuous Integration (CI) tools and Atlassian product suite
• Experience with embedded multi-core ARM processor architecture
• Additional programming languages and frameworks
