UX Designer

Job Description Backstop is a Chicago based company that makes the industry-leading, cloud-based productivity suite for alternative investments and the people who invest in them.

Backstop’s User Experience team is a diverse group of designers who are creating products for people at work.

We empower our clients by designing improved process workflows and collaboration, data entry, data visualization and reporting.

As a UX Designer with Backstop you will be an integral part of the entire product development process, helping to connect across disciplines, such as Design, Product, Engineering, and Marketing.

We are looking for a designer that loves learning, and is passionate about conceiving experiences in the abstract and then driving that vision into solid design deliverables such as complex workflows, wireframes, user interface designs, interaction models, and prototypes.

Job Responsibilities Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, data, customer feedback, user research and technical constraints/opportunities.

Quickly and thoroughly create user flows, wireframes, design mockups, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize new product initiatives.

Champion the thinking around our platform’s information architecture by leading the discussion on how to make data easier to digest and understand in our applications.

Conduct research to inform or refine designs.

This includes determining research goals, creating a test plan and facilitator’s script, recruiting users, executing the study protocol and analyzing the results.

Evaluate and develop system-level design components that create a unified user experience across the application, providing solutions that improve experiences and not just a solitary feature.

Support developers through the launch process and solution for problems that may arise during the execution of the product’s design.

You are able to work within a highly collaborative environment to estimate and negotiate the user experience that is defined on the scope or product vision.

You can articulate a vision and evangelize the value of design to the broader business through knowledge sharing sessions, workshops, and other activities.

Takes the lead in communicating designs to stakeholders and iterates on their feedback throughout the project lifecycle.

Strong interaction design skills.

Experience in designing rich Internet applications Experience and Skills 5 years previous experience as a UX Designer, Product Designer, Information Architect, Interaction Designer or similar position.

Bachelors Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field Portfolio with a history of impactful projects that showcase your design process Knowledge of alternative investment/institutional investment workflows or an eagerness to learn.
