Theater Planner and Systems Designer

Summary

As a Theater Planner and Systems Designer at DLR Group you will design performance and assembly venues, their support spaces, and performance-related equipment systems from planning and pre-design phases through construction administration and post-opening services. As part of our integrated design teams, you will help create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. The successful candidate will work within our Theater Planning and Systems Design team and will be responsible for: Participating in needs assessment and early project planning efforts. Providing architects, engineers, and other project planners theatrical design guidance on mechanical, structural, and electrical requirements for performance spaces and performance equipment systems. Participating in project design reviews, documentation, existing conditions/equipment assessment, and other theatrical design work. Required

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years experience in theater consulting, performance equipment systems design, or related field. Degree from a 4-year college program in theater, engineering, architecture, or related field. Strong knowledge of typical theatrical production practice. Strong knowledge of performance-related equipment systems such as theatrical lighting, rigging, audience seating, etc. An understanding of building systems and construction techniques Proficiency in the use of Revit and/or AutoCAD, Revit is preferred. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Direct experience at a professional or university level with performance production Strong computer, research, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Self-motivated with an ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
