Sr. Creative Services Advisor

Primary Purpose:
Create, design, and execute creative assets in accordance with brand identity and corporate guidelines.

Help establish and guide the company’s internal creative services team, working closely with the Marketing Communications (MarComms) team, external advertising agency of record, and cross-functional partners.

Provides counsel to team members, internal business partners, suppliers on compliance with corporate policies, brand identity standards, affiliate transaction rules, legal and regulatory requirements related to internal projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and creates company materials with the internal creative team and/or with the help of an external design firm.

Provides input on design elements, compares against current company design standards, and provides direction to design firm.

Works collaboratively across all departments and levels of SoCalGas to achieve goals.

Performs duties in an “on call” capacity on a rotational basis.
Reviews, edits, and approves company communications.

Provides input to team members, internal business partners, suppliers and agency in compliance with company policies, brand identity standards, affiliate transaction rules, legal and regulatory requirements.

Collaborates with the Marketing/Communications Department and business partners.
Supports corporate branding initiatives by ensuring compliance with utility identity guidelines, image usage licenses, co-branding policies, trademarks/copyrights and implementing of the brand across all mediums.
Initiates and drive processes and procedures for the Creative Services department.

Responsible for overall project workflow.

Guides jobs from project initiation to completion to ensure seamless execution per required deadlines.

Participates in project updates and status meetings with the marketing communications team.

Creates and maintains an archive data base of creative assets.

Ensures compliance with SoCalGas records retention requirements.
Contract Management of photo print and video design 3rd party vendor contracts.

Ensures project costs are approved before all work begins with 3rd party vendors.
Identifies, implements, and advises use of best practices and processes to continually enhance quality and speed to market.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Education, Certifications, Licenses and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Creative Advertising, Art Direction, or related field is required.

Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
6+ years of experience working for graphic design company, advertising agency or in-house, corporate creative team is required.
6+ years of art direction/graphic design background with experience working on advertising campaigns is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience in working on company branding.

Exceptional graphic design skills and ability to “tell the story” with innovation and creativity.
Highly skilled with Adobe Creative Suite products and Microsoft Office.

Specifically, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Power Point.
Strong working knowledge of direct mail marketing and print vendor management is desired
Highly knowledgeable in corporate brand identity/usage rights issues with the ability to support corporate/legal policies and to strategically build and promote the corporate brand.
Ability to provide strategic analysis, counsel, planning and direction on a wide range of complex and multi-faceted design/brand identity issues.
Ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop alternatives and recommend rational solutions.
Exceptional business writing skills with the ability to provide brand identity counsel across all levels of the organization and to external third parties.
Detail and solution-oriented, highly motivated self-starter with a successful track record in taking ownership of high-level complex projects and independently taking projects from concept to successful completion.
Successful track record of assessing priorities and working well under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Accuracy and detail-oriented in all phases of project management/reporting.
Strong team player with the ability to foster excellent working relationships.
