Desktop Support Engineer

 

Mission Community Hospital is a 145 bed acute care facility with a 50 year legacy of serving the San Fernando Valley.  Currently we seek a Computer System Network Engineer to design, monitor, maintain and fix computer system networks of all sizes.  

Primary duties include maintaining the integrity and security for the Hospital network and systems connected to it.  This position must have knowledge of network connectivity, protocols, network security devices, network types, including wireless, fiber optic or Cat5 and Windows.

Incumbent will work on higher end network design and on troubleshooting Desktop and Helpdesk support calls and e-mails from Physicians and end users. Needs to be able to diagnose and repair issues remotely as well in person.

Major Responsibilities:

System Administration – 30%

Provide Desktop and Helpdesk support to all staff and end users including Physicians. Monitor assigned systems in terms of function and interaction.

System Support – 25%

Analyze and debug operating systems, applications, and infrastructure issues. Provide security, upgrades/updates, and support for on-site and off-site servers, systems, and applications.

Phone and Data Support – 15%

Wiring both Phone and Data lines to support the hospital’s network infrastructure.

System Security and Documentation – 15%

Implement security for server, workstation, and network protection and client access in physical and virtual environments.

Change Management  and Other– 15%

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associates Degree in technology related field or equivalent experience.

• Three years experience supporting domain level, enterprise services (for example, Active Directory, Domain Controllers, email services, and web services) and Windows 2003/2008/2012 infrastructures.

• Experience working with IIS, LDAP, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, MS SQL Server, and virtual technologies like Citrix and VMWare vSphere.

• Experience with common server hardware architecture including servers (CPU, bus, memory), SANS, disk arrays, network hardware, and SAN fiber channel.and Windows Operating Systems, including processes, files, memory management and I/O systems.

• Experience implementing change control and configuration management, patch management, high availability systems, and structured design and support methodologies.

• Experience with IP networking, basic routing, TCP ports and network services, including DNS, DHCP, SSH, LDAP, SFTP and HTTP(S).

Preferred:

• Bachelors Degree in technology related field.

• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification.

• Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.

• More than three years experience with Citrix or VMWare virtual technologies.
