Director of Construction Summary:

Responsible for the division’s construction operations and onsite safety compliance. Prepares departmental budgets and monitors costs. Oversees scheduling and quality of all aspects of construction process implementing policies and procedures within the department(s).

Responsibilities:
Forecast and monitor all construction schedules and all aspects of construction activity and quality control.

Implement standards, specifications and uniform project control procedures developed by senior management to promote the efficient and effective planning and control of all projects.

Will serve as the Division Safety Coordinator (DSC) for division. The DSC responsibilities may be assigned to construction. Area managers and/or administrative positions within the office. However, the DSC shall be the primary contact regarding safety issues and responsibilities as outlined in Lennar’s IIPP manual.

Participate as a member of project planning design team to provide construction expertise to senior management.

Assist Division President with project acquisition analysis and Feasibility Reports.

Responsible for the coordination of consultant activities and contracts.

Monitor and approve, on a weekly basis, field change orders, personnel action forms and any other matters required for efficient control of projects.

Provide weekly written reports of progress, trade partner meetings, agency contacts, problem resolution, safety meetings and other reports for efficient project management and control.

Conduct regular construction meetings as necessary to increase awareness and promote division goals.

Implement regular training programs for field personnel to foster increased knowledge and growth opportunities.

Coordinate with Purchasing Manager to develop, design and implement procedures for efficient project planning and trade partner performance standards to achieve division’s goals.

Coordinate with Customer Care Manager to establish and promote a total quality management program, zero defects closings and, ultimately, the success of the division in reaching its goals.

Coordinate with the Marketing Department regarding model merchandising plans.

Site and inventory maintenance.

Coordinate compliance with conditions of maps and occupancy.

Ensure timely closings of homesites.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Seven (7) – ten (10) years vertical and horizontal construction experience

High school diploma or GED required

Valid driver’s license

Engineering background preferred but not required

Experience with public agencies and public presentations

Detailed cost estimating and purchasing skills required

Strong motivational, management and organizational skills required

Interact well with co-workers

Comply with and implement company policies and procedures

Strong work ethic

Accept constructive feedback

Team player

 

Physical Requirements:

Requires the ability to work in excess of eight hours per day, operate a motor vehicle, read plans, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry equipment that may be in excess of 50 pounds. This position may be required to operate construction equipment. Finger dexterity is required to operate a calculator and computer keyboard.

General Overview of Compensation:

The *median base compensation for this position is estimated to be $171,659/annual, subject to adjustment based on business-related factors including employee qualifications, geographic location, and operational considerations.  Note: *The median amount may be greater or less than the average salary.

This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses as determined in the Company’s sole discretion.

This position will be eligible for the described benefits listed in the above section.
