Responsibilities
The Census Coordinator (Administrative Assistant) assigns and evaluates work.
In this role, major duties include assisting in Breeding Colony Management scanning, census reports, printing PI labels for the breeding techs, relocating current cages and cage cards for PIs that are moving to a different room/building, changing the housing type in eSirius, scanning BSRB and CHS breeding rooms, printing the bar code cage cards.
You will create/evaluate cage/room reports to make sure cages have the correct information, update recharges to room level when recharge changes are confirmed, update contacts when requested, activate/deactivate cage cards, prepare for billing close due date, calculate the pup counts sheets and investigate/track down any missing information.
You will also have to be familiar with the cage card printer functions such as reloading card stock, reloading ink rolls and basic troubleshooting.
You will have to troubleshoot electronic devices in the field, if necessary (reboots, clearing cache, wifi connectivity, etc.).
You will be assigned other duties, as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
Ability to communicate professionally and courteously on the phone, in person and by email to a variety of people.
Ability to complete tasks in an orderly and timely fashion.
Ability to use or learn full capability of word processing software, e-mail, spreadsheets, the internet and other computer programs.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to work accurately and with detail.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Skill in writing clear and concise correspondence.
Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor degree in related field.
Knowledge of research animal facility.
