Staff Accountant

As a Staff Accountant for vCom, you will perform a variety of duties such as maintaining and updating data for our third party payables vendor, reconciling general ledger accounts, compiling travel and entertainment reports, and performing accounting close tasks as assigned. Your attention to detail is impeccable, you learn quickly, and you have excellent communication skills. In your first month, you’ll:

  • Learn internal systems and processes
  • Get introduced to the third party vendor payables team
  • Become familiar with NetSuite and Concur cloud-based applications

In your first 3 months, you’ll:

  • Maintain and update the data for third party payables vendor
  • Understand and work well on third party payables vendor portal
  • Understand and work well with internal application (iPath)
  • Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts in NetSuite
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts in NetSuite/Excel

In your first 6 months, you’ll:

  • Understand and work well with Concur Travel and Expense platform
  • Export and report on travel and entertainment expenses from Concur
  • Work independently with other team members to obtain information needed to perform reconciliations and complete reports
  • Be completely comfortable in the role and able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Identify opportunities to streamline work process and increase efficiencies

What you’ll do:

  • Work with third party payables vendor on maintaining, updating and submitting the data
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
  • Create and post monthly journal entries
  • Compile data and reports related to travel and entertainment expenditures
  • Audit your own work for accuracy
  • Assist in quarterly and annual close
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of related prior accounting experience
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to reconcile bank and credit card accounts in the designated ERP (NetSuite or equivalent)
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills, including intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables)
  • Ability to work independently and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with external parties, as well as team member at all levels
  • Ability to take on projects while maintaining current workload
  • Ability to prioritize based on recurring and project based deadlines
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations and maintain a calm and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work precisely with data and ensure that work meets quality standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with high learning aptitude and initiative
  • Enjoy working in a team environment

It’s also helpful if you’ve got:

  • Telecom expense management (TEM) and telecom industry accounting experience
  • Experience working with payable vendor (automated AP processing)
  • Expense report processing and reporting experience
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new systems and databases
  • Knowledge of Concur Travel and Expense platform
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of NetSuite would be a plus

The Selection Process

  • After submitting a resume, qualified candidates will be invited to complete two separate assessments
  • Once the assessments are completed, candidates will participate in a pre-screening phone screen with Human Resources
  • A select group of candidates will be interviewed (rounds of interviews may include Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager and the VP of Finance.
