Staff Accountant

Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end close procedures by booking journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.

The Staff Accountant will have responsibilities over cash, fixed assets, software development projects, accounts payable and accrued liabilities, payroll, and intercompany transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Understand underlying business and related processes as foundation for responsibilities.
Prepare monthly roll-forward schedules, account reconciliations, and other month-end close requirements.

Ensure that all accruals have adequate supporting documentation, review for reasonableness and trends as per accrual procedures and guidelines.
Work with Senior Accounting Manager and various stakeholders to facilitate monthly accrual calculations and intercompany variances.
Analyze and research income statement and balance sheet fluctuations.
Prepare financial statement fluctuation commentary for monthly management reporting.
Support Accounting Manager with various process improvement projects, including but not limited to, the implementation of policies, procedures, and controls.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously with keen understanding of deadlines.
Adapt to a constantly changing environment and to evaluate current processes, make recommendations and implement viable solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Prefer experience at a Big 4 accounting firm.
General ledger accounting experience.
Able to work independently as well as with cross functional groups.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills required.
Strong verbal and written skills along with good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
